Jimmy Fallon Admits He Was Too 'Bombed' To Propose To His Wife Nancy
Jimmy Fallon admits he was once so drunk he had to scrap his special plan to propose to his then-girlfriend, Nancy Juvonen!
"I wanted it to be romantic and perfect," the Tonight Show host revealed in the new issue of People, explaining he waited until she flew to New York from Los Angeles to visit him.
"I opened the door, and she goes, 'I have a surprise for you! We're going to legendary restaurant Per Se. So we went to Per Se."
Unfortunately, Fallon, who has battled issues with booze in the past, was unable to drink in moderation, he said.
"Cut to 14 courses later. I was bombed out of my mind," he confessed. "So I waited another three months" to propose.
As RadarOnline.com reported, Fallon raised eyebrows in 2015 after he suffered a series of disturbing incidents, including nearly severing his ring finger after tripping in his kitchen, chipping a tooth trying to open up a bottle of medicine two months later, and suffering a cut from a bottle of Jägermeister that October.
And in the fall of 2016, Fallon was caught looking "very drunk" while dancing at a punk bar.
Fallon's alleged drinking became so concerning, sources previously told RadarOnline.com, NBC execs told him to cut back on the boozing.
Despite Fallon's issues, he was eventually successful with his proposal.
"I did it at the summer home her parents have on lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire," he said.
"I went out to the dock and told myself, 'Don't cry. Let her cry first.' I'm a pretty mushy guy, and I just wanted it to be perfect. I got down on one knee, and I immediately started weeping. She's like, 'Are you having a stroke?' She said yes and we celebrated. The rest is history."
