Javi Marroquin and Lauren Comeau thought they had weeks to prepare for their first child together, but they suddenly learned they would be welcoming their new addition early! In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, the Teen Mom 2 stars revealed her shocking preeclampsia diagnosis and all the delivery room drama.
“I was induced at 37 weeks and four days,” Comeau, 26, exclusively told RadarOnline.com. “I had mild preeclampsia. My blood pressure was high. There was protein in my urine. They wanted to get me in there and get the baby out before it got worse.”
Marroquin, 25, had a feeling something was off, as Comeau was sent for ultrasounds, which was something he doesn’t remember ex-wife Kailyn Lowry doing when she was pregnant with their son Lincoln, 5.
“My doctor mentioned nothing about being induced,” Comeau explained. “Then we were driving down to Atlantic City on Friday. A woman called to talk about my induction. I was like my what? When is that happening? I was sobbing! It was scary. We think we have three more weeks and then they’re like, it’s five days. I had to get my whole family here. It was overwhelming.”
But the drama continued when she checked into the hospital on Wednesday, November 14.
“They put me on an IV med cause I was nauseous and puking,” she said. “It knocked me out. The next morning I was 5 cm dilated. We tried to push through the contractions. I did for about three hours. It was miserable. I got an epidural. The next 2-3 hours were enjoyable, but then the hour of pushing was really stressful.”
She added, “The actual pushing was 30 minutes. My epidural had worn off by then because they wean you off so you can feel your contractions and know when to push. It was pretty painful.”
Marroquin added that while there was “a lot of screaming,” she “pushed through it.”
RadarOnline.com broke that the couple welcomed their son Eli Joseph Marroquin on Thursday, November 15 at 3:09pm.
Although Comeau explained that their son is “really pretty mellow,” she described her first night home with her son as “long.”
“I forgot what it was like to have a newborn,” Marroquin said. “Sleepless nights, I’m used to that! It’s nice having another boy in the house.”
