Jamie Otis welcomed her daughter Henley Grace with husband Doug Hehner after losing son Johnathan 17 weeks into her pregnancy. After suffering yet another miscarriage earlier this month, the Married at First Sight star exclusively told RadarOnline.com that she is hopeful she will welcome another healthy rainbow baby.
"Who knew getting pregnant and making a family could be so difficult," Otis, 32, told RadarOnline.com. "I never knew I'd have so many challenges! In my family, we don't usually struggle so much."
But the miscarriage isn't discouraging Otis and Hehner from their goal of making Henley, 1, a big sister.
"My midwife advised us to wait a cycle before trying again," Otis shared. "I've been tracking my cycle & we've been praying to get pregnant with another rainbow baby by Christmas. There would be no better gift than my belly round with a healthy, growing baby in the New Year!"
Although the miscarriage has been difficult, Otis continues to be open about her struggles with her "incredible" and "supportive" fans.
"I feel like the struggle is more common than we all realize," she said. "Many women go through this, it's just never talked about. After I lost Johnathan, I hoped to change that in order to help more women feel less alone. Pregnancy loss can be so isolating and lonely."
Otis revealed that she suffered the miscarriage a week ago over Instagram.
"The night before last I began having terrible contractions like pains & spotting," she wrote on Instagram. "Then over the night full blown everything – if you know what I mean. I'm a nurse so I had my suspicions; but my midwife confirmed I had a chemical pregnancy."
Otis is focusing on her daughter through the hardship, as she recently revealed a new milestone!
"Gracie took her first step at grandma and grandpa's house," Otis captioned a video of her daughter walking on Instagram.
