James Franco has been under fire after his Golden Globes win, and now it seems he has gone recluse!

As RadarOnline.com has learned, the star skipped out on attending the Critics Choice Awards this Thursday – even though he won best actor for his role in The Disaster Artist. His decision comes after five women – including four of his former acting students – accused him of sexual misconduct. While he denied the allegations, pals say he is not doing so well after all the backlash.

“He’s in a really bad place, so bad that he changed his phone number,” a source told PEOPLE. “His close friends are trying to be there for him but it’s been hard – he’s only talking to a select group of people. For now, he’s just hiding out.”

James Franco, 39, previously spoke out about the claims, saying that while they were “not accurate,” he was not going to “actively refute them” because he believed in the “Time’s Up” and “Me Too” movements and thought every woman’s voice should be heard.

What do you think of James Franco’s decision to stay out of the Critics Choice Awards? Sound off in the comments below.
