Stunning Similarities Between Elisabeth Moss’ Scientology Beliefs & 'Handmaid’s' Role

On TV, Elisabeth Moss plays a woman trapped in a cult-like world that adheres to its own set of rules. And in a case of life imitating art, The Handmaid’s Tale star lives the life of a Scientologist, the famously secretive religion that also follows its own rules and regulations.
According to the Heat Magazine, Moss, 35, remains mum on her controversial beliefs, and rarely discusses Scientology in interviews or public appearances.
But as RadarOnline.com reported, she has been very open about her love for Scientology in the past. In 2013, she told movie critic Peter Travers that in Scientology “there is so much focus on… empowerment and sort of respecting yourself, and yourself as an individual.”
In the few other times she has opened up about her private life, like in an interview with New York magazine in 2014, she stressed the religion is "grossly misunderstood by the media.”
“I get the curiosity. I get the fascination,” she told the Guardian in 2016. “I become fascinated with things that are none of my business as well."
As for comparisons between her hit series and her personal beliefs, Moss has a thin skin with online haters.
“Hi! I gave you a chance to not be an a**hole but I’m afraid you just wasted it. Take care,” the former Mad Men star wrote to one person, while admitting to another that she gets “a little feisty.”
Moss didn’t stop there.
“No but being on Handmaids Tale does give me insight into a**holes like you,” she railed against another critic.
Now, with the success of her current show, the Emmy winner has a new platform to spread her personal gospel.
