MTV had another hit with Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant. One of the show’s stars, Ashley Jones, exclusively revealed to RadarOnline.com that the show is a success because their spinoff of the popular Teen Mom franchise is “up to date.”
“MTV has for years been showing the struggles of what it’s been like to be a Teen Mom,” Jones told RadarOnline.com. “They revamped it. It’s fast-paced and up-to-date.”
She then took aim at TMOG star Maci Bookout.
“Maci was a teen 10 years ago,” she said. “It’s changed.”
Jones could be right, as new additions Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd didn’t help bring ratings up after Farrah Abraham’s departure from the show.
TMOG premiered on Monday, October 1. According to Ratings By The Numbers, the MTV series brought in only 957,000 viewers.
For the second episode, 851,000 viewers tuned in.
For last season’s premiere on November 27, 2017, which featured Abraham, 1,319,00 people watched. The series ended strong with 1,098,000 for the season finale.
In addition to being more relatable to teen moms, the mother of Holly also plans to bring drama this season with her on-again, off-again man Bar Smith.
“We are together at the very moment,” she said. “We want to take it slow. We want to get married. We go through things like every other couple. It’s good to take a step back and reevaluate where you are personally in life.”
Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant is back Monday at 10/9c on MTV.
