Ariana Grande dropped out of the season premiere of Saturday Night Live for “emotional reasons,” show producer Lorne Michaels revealed in a bombshell interview.

Kanye West is set to perform as the show’s musical guest, but Grande, 25, was originally tapped to perform.

"We had Ariana drop out for emotional reasons two days ago,” Michaels said on the podcast Origins with James Andrew Miller.

Grande is engaged to SNL star Pete Davidson.

Michaels continued with the revelation that Kim Kardashian’s husband wasn’t the first choice. “And then Kanye stepped up, so he will be there.”

Grande’s ex-boyfriend Mac Miller was found dead on September 7, 2018. On Thursday she Tweeted to her fans: “can i pls have one okay day. just one. Pls.” She followed that with: “i’m so tired pls.”

She later wrote another message to her fans.

“Ur angels in my life. it’s just been a tough month. i’m trying to get my work done and get back to normal and it’s hard and i’m human and tired. sorry i let u in or worried u. i shouldn’t have tweeted. i kno better.”

As RadarOnline.com exclusively revealed, Grande was in therapy to deal with the tragedy of Miller’s death.
