Over the past year, Zac Efron has worked very hard to maintain his sobriety and rebuild his career. However, a source within the 27-year-old's sober circle tells RadarOnline.com exclusively that, after a series of recent mishaps that included a box office flop and a possibly permanent split from his girlfriend of one year, the High School Musical hunk has gone MIA -- and his friends fear the worst! On August 28, Efron took his girlfriend Sami Miro to the L.A. premiere of his movie We Are Your Friends. But the usually bright-eyed star looked a little foggy.

After the drug- and party-themed flick completely bombed at the box office, a source on the set of Efron's newest film Neighbors 2 told RadarOnline.com, "Zac showed up to a cast party in Atlanta and he looked like he was totally out of it. He was complaining to anyone who would listen that he had to make a movie about a drug-fueled music scene – without being able to use drugs."

After the L.A. premiere, where this blurry-eyed photo was taken, Efron forgot his one year anniversary with his girlfriend Sami Miro. Although he later posted a belated message on his Instagram to say "Happy Anniversary Baby," the source says, "Zac and Sami got into a serious fight after he didn't do anything really romantic or special for her." Since then, Efron has gone completely silent on both his Instagram and Twitter.

According to the friend, "Zac's friends have been texting and calling and he isn't being responsive. When he has responded it is always just a one word answer, followed by nothing."
