Malia Under Fire! First Kid Spreads Her Wings And Flies Into The Limelight
Feb. 25 2019, Updated 11:36 a.m. ET
She went from regular kid to First Kid at age 10! Now Malia Obama is 19-years-old and living her dreams at Harvard. As daughter of one of America's favorite power couples, Barack and Michelle Obama, it would be an understatement to say that she has a lot to live up to. But despite a few moments that have exploded in the media, Malia has continued to be an amazing role model for young women and a positive part of the rich legacy of the Obama family.

Her presence in the media is mostly inconspicuous—she has often been captured on her way to work—such is the burden of a former White House resident. Little is known about the level of security protecting her, but it's likely that behind every frame of a photo of Malia lurks a few secret service agents.
Malia has hardly offered any "scandals," but what would be considered ordinary moments for any other 19-year-old have exploded in the press. She is said to be dating fellow Harvard student (and British Rugby Player) Rory Farquharson.
No word on Barack and Michelle Obama's reaction to the photo that went around of her making out with her BF at a tailgate party. Malia was also photographed with a cigarette in hand. Though no statement from her dad have come out, it's known that he quit smoking long ago, partially because he knew he couldn't tell his girls not to do something that he was doing himself.

But at the end of the day, Malia has represented her country well. Education and hard work were certainly stressed in the Obama White House and both daughters were involved in many activities over the years—Malia spent a lot of time playing volleyball and was ranked the 38th best player in the country in 2015! She has also been very engaged as an activist, fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline and volunteering with non-profit When There Be Dragons!
Let's take a look at everything she's done (up until now) both in and out of The White House.

What do Malia’s Parents Say About Her?

Is Malia A “Good Girl” Or Is She Rebelling?
Recently Malia was spotted with a new 'do— long braids—and sporting a little bit of a bare midriff. Is this a little bit of rebellion? It'll be interesting to see if Malia can keep her reputation as clean as it has been while still trying to #YOLO as much as the rest of the students at Harvard!
