Before her royal engagement to Prince Harry, 33, Meghan Markle, 36, was just an adorable child growing up in California with her father, Thomas Markle.

She eventually gained fame with the popular show Suits — soon after which she allegedly dumped her first husband to pursue Hollywood fame.

While dark rumors about her allegedly troubled childhood have come out since her royal engagement, sources agree that Meghan’s dad has always been her best friend and biggest supporter.

Thomas, 73, has already bonded with Harry over the phone, and he’s set to walk Meghan down the aisle on May 19!

“He’s very excited about it,’ said the friend: ‘He’s very close to her Meghan and he’s very happy,” a source previously told RadarOnline.com.

While all the pressure from his daughter’s new-found fame “has been hard on him,” he’s managed to put up with it and will always be there to support Meghan.
