On Thursday, MTV announced Are You The One? star Cheyenne Floyd is the newest Teen Mom OG cast member, along with Bristol Palin. McKee, who was also considered for the role, tweeted at the time of the announcement, "I've been done real dirty this year let's just say that…"
But McKee, 23, is staying positive. "It's obvious what is going on right now and that's okay," she told RadarOnline.com. "I have nothing bad to say about anyone. I am happy for them all. These girls have a great opportunity and I hope they use it in a positive way."
Despite her well wishes for Floyd and Palin, McKee felt she did have a "passionate" and "touching story" to share: her mother Angie's battle with stage four brain and lung cancer. "Many out there have loved ones dealing with cancer and through my mom, I wanted to inspire those people out there to go out and live your best life, even if you're told you have 4-12 months," she said. "Some way somehow I will make sure she doesn't leave this earth without inspiring the world. Unfortunately, it's just not a story MTV is interested in."
The Body by Mac founder explained how she isn't upset with MTV, as her storyline "was not what they were looking for." Fortunately for fans, McKee will continue to share her story. "I went through dark days and I am a suicide attempt survivor," she said. "When I got through mental illness, I knew I was called to share my story. So maybe on another platform I can help others. I'm going to keep shining and focus on my mom and fitness journey. 2018 has been as Shitty as it gets for me, but I'm strong and I will get through it."
For now, fans will have the opportunity to catch up with McKee when her Where Are They Now? special airs on September 19 on MTV. "Mackenzie has three kids, runs a fitness business, and has a husband who doesn't understand how hard she works," the description read. "On top of all this, she receives the worst news of her life when her mom Angie is diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer."
MTV did not immediately respond to RadarOnline.com's request for comment. Do you think McKee would've been a better addition than Floyd? Tell us in the comments!
