Mackenzie McKee’s Cancer-Stricken Mom Stops Treatment: ‘There Has Been No Miracle’
Aug. 22 2019, Updated 12:20 p.m. ET
Mackenzie McKee’s mom Angie Douthit revealed she only has six months to live on the most recent episode of Teen Mom OG, as her lung cancer spread throughout her body despite undergoing chemotherapy.
Despite the grim diagnosis, Angie remained positive while talking to her two daughters about the health update.
“The bigger the cancer, the bigger the miracle” she said on the heartbreaking episode.
But in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, the new TMOG star revealed there has been no miracle for Angie, as she has stopped chemotherapy.
Mackenzie, 24, revealed in January that her mother had five inoperable masses on her brain and a 7cm mass on her lung.
The diagnosis came as a shock to the family, as Angie is an avid runner and maintained a healthy lifestyle.
She has also been the backbone of her family, especially to Mackenzie who suffers from Type 1 Diabetes and has had marital issues with husband Josh. On a recent episode, Mackenzie broke down at the thought of life without her supportive and helpful mother.
Mackenzie’s oldest son, Gannon, 7, who is very close to his grandmother, also didn’t take the news well.

Bad News
“We just got the news yesterday that her blood counts are too low to continue with chemo,” Mackenzie told RadarOnline.com. “There has been no miracle, but she is still with us.”
Cancer Has Spread
On the Monday, August 19 episode, Angie told her daughters, “I wanted to tell you I was better. But they told me that it’s in both femurs; it’s in my breast bone; it’s in my hip bones; this backbone that’s attached to your hip bone, it’s back there; it’s half of my liver. It’s in the lymph nodes of my colon and the lymph nodes in my lungs. I have another tumor in my head.”
Tragic News
When Mackenzie asked what they could expect, Angie responded, “He said six months would be really, really pushing it. The doctors know they can’t do anything about this, really.”
Not Easy
Mackenzie told RadarOnline.com the episode was “pretty hard” for her and her family to watch.

Also on the episode, Mackenzie broke the news to her children Gannon, 7, Jaxie, 5, and Broncs, 3. She told them how their grandma is sick and will be with Jesus. Gannon took the news hard, as he’s close with his grandmother.
Taking It Hard
“Everyday is a new day with Gannon,” Mackenzie told RadarOnline.com. “He always wants to be with her. She lives down the road from my new home so sometimes he escapes to go sit with her.”
Remembering Grandma
Also on the episode, Angie said the hardest part is knowing her grandchildren “won’t remember” her. “Well, I hope I’ve been a good mom and a good nanny,” she said. “And I hope you guys will tell your kids about me all the time.”
Staying Strong
In June 2018, Angie exclusively told RadarOnline.com’s Teen Mom Time podcast, “Every day is a new day. I’m blessed. Doctors are great and intelligent people, but God made my body. He knows how to fix it. My life is in his hands. Whatever he needs of me, I am not going to go down lying in bed. I’m going to share the love of God with who I run into.”
More Stress
Mackenzie has been having a rough year. In addition to her mother’s cancer battle, sources told OKMagazine.com that Josh was caught cheating on his wife at a bar while out of town for rodeo.
It’s Over
Although Mackenzie and Josh denied the cheating rumors, she announced her split from him soon after the article came out. She told RadarOnline.com of her marriage, “We are just taking time for ourselves until I figure life out. I had a lot going on at once.”
