Police Release Photos Of Kurt Cobain's Suicide Gun Amid Murder Conspiracy Theory
March 19 2016, Updated 3:56 p.m. ET
Over the years, rumors have swirled that Kurt Cobain's April 1994 suicide was actually a murder.
Los Angeles private investigator Tom Grant, who was hired by Cobain's wife Courtney Love days before the rocker's death, has remained critical of the Seattle Police Department's handling of the case.
"The SPD deliberately lied and deliberately covered up the results of their investigation. The case needs to be changed from suicide to undetermined," he claimed.
Now, in an effort to debunk these theories, police have released photos of the shotgun that killed Cobain to CBS news.

Additionally, conspiracy theorists have claimed that the police department had the gun that killed Cobain melted down in order to hide the truth behind his alleged murder.
As fans of the former Nirvana frontman recall, Cobain was found dead at age 27 in the greenhouse of his Lake Washington home.
He died clutching a shotgun, after allegedly shooting himself in the head through his mouth.
He had a lethal dose of heroin in his bloodstream at the time.
As RadarOnline.com has reported, Love has fought to prevent the release of photos in relation to Cobain's death, citing her family's privacy.
