On April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain's body was discovered in a greenhouse room atop the garage of his Seattle area home. Authorities estimate he had tragically committed suicide three days earlier. Lost Last Chance
Cobain still had the plastic bracelet around his arm from a Los Angeles rehab center he had checked out of just before he committed suicide at age 27 in Lake Washington.
Police Evidence
A box of shotgun shells was discovered near the musician's feet. He had used a bullet from the package to kill himself.
Disturbing Scene
Cigarettes, a lighter, winter hat, sunglasses and other items were strewn around Cobain.
Identifying the Body
Police confirmed the singer's identity by looking at a license in his wallet.
Death Kit
Police photos show Cobain kept his heroin kit, including syringes, in a cigar box, discovered near the body.

Last Words
A suicide note was discovered stuck in potting soil with a pen through its center. Garbage, including candy packages, were scattered everywhere. "I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now," Cobain wrote, in part, in the message. "I feel guity beyond words about these things."
Dire Warning
Cobain's wife, Courtney Love, had filed a missing person report after she grew worried about his state of mind. She warned authorities he was suicidal and had a gun.
Sad Ending
Cobain used a shotgun propped between his knees to shoot himself in the mouth.
Conspiracy Theories
Fans continue to question Cobain's suicide to this day, with some insisting the singer was murdered. He would have been 52 this year.
