'Poverty, Addiction & Abuse!' Inside Teen Mom Kailyn's Sick, Sad Childhood

Kailyn Lowry has revealed the struggles she's faced growing up with an alcoholic mother during her time on Teen Mom 2, but no one knows just how toxic her upbringing really was. RadarOnline.com can exclusively expose details from the heartbreaking childhood Lowry was forced to endure.
In Lowry's new book, Hustle & Heart, she explained how her low self-esteem is a result of feeling unloved by her mother Suzanne and absentee father. "It sure as hell seemed like my own parents couldn't muster up any love to send my way," she wrote in the tell-all, which will be released on November 22. "My own parents! If I couldn't look to them for an example of what it means to be loved, how could I imagine what it was like? If my parents couldn't love me, how could I be sure anyone would?"
Although Lowry has talked about her mother's addiction on early episodes of Teen Mom 2, she explained just how traumatizing her alcoholism was to Lowry. "The best of my mom's love went into the bottles she drowned herself in day in and day out," she wrote. "The love that should have been mine went into bottles and empty cans that were tossed in the trash and carried away. I was left with whatever spilled, and it wasn't enough."
Lowry continued by explaining all the times her mother wronged her, including leaving her with a "cokehead babysitter." "Not enough to numb the embarrassment when she showed up at my elementary school reeking of Jack Daniel's," she wrote. "Not enough to dull my hurt and anger when she disappeared and left me on my own for long, long stretches of time. By the time I was a teenager, no one had to tell me to follow my heart."

The mother-of-two explained how being "born into poverty" and having a mother who "bounced from boyfriend to boyfriend and place to place" forced her to rebel in her teen years. "I acted up in school, smoked too much weed, had sex too young—the list goes on," she penned.
Although others have criticized Lowry for not working to have a relationship with her mother, she explained how hard she has tried. "No one can ever say I didn't try to have a relationship with my mother," Javi Marroquin's ex wrote. "I spent the most vulnerable years of my childhood working to hide her drinking from teachers, classmates and neighbors while trying to earn her love."
While Lowry currently has no relationship with her mother, who she last spoke about when she watched her son, Lincoln, 2, drunk, she said that she always was a "devoted daughter" to her flawed mother.
