The actor was shooting his new movie Joker in New York City on Nov. 18.
Phoenix, 44, made for a very creepy clown-like character.
The red-suited menace was filmed running beneath an elevated subway train track in the Bronx.

Joker is set to hit theaters next October.
The infamous super villain has also been portrayed by Jared Leto and the late Heath Ledger.
