Jennifer Hudson, 36, and David Otunga, 37, sparked breakup rumors after they failed to talk about marriage, despite getting engaged less than a year into their relationship.
The former pro wrestler proposed to the actress in 2008, and one year later, they welcomed their first and only child, David, 8. As Star reported in 2016, Hudson told reporters she and Otunga were taking “baby steps” towards marriage and did not want to rush into anything.
“It’s one excuse after another,” a source told Star of Hudson’s reluctance to walk down the aisle. “Jennifer keeps telling David that she just wants to be sure or that she’s too busy in the studio.”
“David’s heard it all, and he’s had enough,” the source said of Otunga. “He told Jennifer they need to start planning or maybe they should part as friends.”

The former duo famously attended the star-studded wedding of Ciara and Russell Wilson, which the source claimed did not help their own situation.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, shortly after Otunga popped the question in 2008, Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew were brutally murdered by her former brother-in-law. While she was devastated by the incident, she said that her child with the WWE commentator “saved her life” and he was her only priority.
“I feel like everything is about timing, and he ain’t going nowhere,” Hudson told Star in 2016 when asked about her long engagement.
An insider close to the star also told OK! that “Jennifer gets pestered all the time by her friends who ask when she is setting the wedding date, but she never gives a straight answer.” Said a pal: “She just gets very defensive,” adding that meanwhile, Otunga was just “tired of being in limbo.”
“My thing is once I get married, I don’t believe in divorce, so when I get married, it’s for good. We want to be completely sure we are together, we’re happy,” Jennifer Hudson once told Wendy Williams.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, friends of the former couple doubted they would ever walk down the aisle – so their breakup came as no surprise.
