"What I saw in the 1990s sickened me," he scathed in the book's introduction, calling her "erratic, uncontrollable and occasionally violent."

Secret Service agents even discussed taking precautions to protect Bill from his wife's physical attacks, Byrne writes, as one particularly "violent encounter" occurred before a key presidential address to the nation. Meanwhile, a reportedly paranoid Hillary attempted to have the Secret Service banned from the White House.

"From the bottom of my soul I know this to be true. And with Hillary's latest rise, I realize that her own leadership style — volcanic, impulsive, enabled by sycophants, and disdainful of the rules set for everyone else — hasn't changed a bit," Byrne wrote.

In 1995, Byrne claims that he was once instructed to throw out a towel with a woman's lipstick and the former president's "bodily fluids" on it. Later, he allegedly cleaned up the result of a loud fight between the Clintons, which left a blue vase "smashed to bits" and Bill sporting a "real, live, put-a-steak-on-it black eye."
