‘The Wonder Years’ Secrets & Scandals: Inside Fred Savage's Bad Behavior!

Fred Savage’s TV mom on The Wonder Years recently spoke out about claims that in the early 1990s the actor sexually harassed the show’s costume designer, who filed a lawsuit, which ABC eventually settled. But the then-16-year-old star’s alleged bad behavior was the source of many rumors and stories that emerged during the show’s heyday. Savage allegedly attached mirrors to his shoes when he was 15 so he could peek up girls’ skirts at a party.
“At the party, Fred would walk up to a girl and talk to her,” a friend told Star in 1992. “Then he’d look down at this feet. He managed to talk to every girl at the party, including Mayim Bialik of Blossom. All the girls were wearing trendy miniskirts.”
“At another party, he sneaked a video camera into the bathroom, put it on a ledge in the shower and let it run,” claimed the friend. “The other guys were in on it, too, but Fred was the instigator.” The girls at the party discovered the trick, and they told Savage’s mom, who grounded him for the pervy prank.

Savage would love to pretend to choke, stop breathing or pass out while on The Wonder Years set in order to scare the show’s cast and crew. “All work and no play has made Fred a mischievous boy,” a friend of his told Star in 1991.
Savage found himself caught up in a love triangle with an older girl when he was just 13. “He has a terrible crush on Jenny Lewis, his movie co-star from The Wizard — but Jenny is in love with Bathazar Getty, who plays Ralph in The Lord of the Flies,” a friend told Star in 1990. The actor reportedly told his romantic interest that her attitude “really stinks” after he couldn’t get win her affections.
When he was 14, Savage had a little black book full of names. “Fred has over 50 girls in his book,” an insider told Star in 1991.
Savage had a thing for older girls who had jobs as working actresses. “Fred has joked, ‘I want rich babes between 14 and 18,’” said the insider.
He once asked out a 17-year-old girl who guest-starred on The Wonder Years. But “the girl refused” 14-year-old Savage’s advances, said the insider.
In 1990, a source told Star that Savage, then 14, got in trouble after his mom, Joanne Savage, “found a slew” of porn magazines under the actor’s bed, including Juggs, Hustler, Hooters and Swank.
