The mother of Everly, 4, looked carefree yesterday outside of NBC studios in L.A. — just one day after dropping the bombshell announcement that she was splitting with hunky hubby of nine years, Channing Tatum, 37.
"Jenna is tired of living in Channing's shadow," a source close to Tatum told RadarOnline.com.
"She is determined to get her career back, and going on a ton of auditions. She wants reinvent herself and become a respected actress, which is great for her," the insider said.
As fans know, Tatum's success exploded with the Magic Mike franchise, which premiered in 2012. Meanwhile, Dewan's career has mostly consisted of supporting roles on TV shows, and being a stay-at-home mom while Tatum traveled for film projects.
"Jenna just feels like she was stuck at home while her husband toured the world promoting his films," the insider told RadarOnline.com, adding that the family dynamic "may have caused a lot of tension between the two of them."
In their separation announcement posted to to their social media accounts on April 3, the duo — who met on the set of Step Up in 2006 — stated that they were separating on good terms. But as RadarOnline.com previously reported, the couple often argued over her desire to make a name for herself in Hollywood instead of staying home.
"Jenna can't stand it when Channing suggests that she be the one to stay home," a source told Star in 2015. "She might make less, but that doesn't mean she should call it a wrap on her career."
