Kid-Free Zone! 15 Hollywood Stars Who Don’t Want Children

They have some of the best genes on the planet so it’s sad to think that some of the most gorgeous people in the world don’t want to procreate. But while some celebs refuse to be pressured into having kids (think Jennifer Aniston), some have openly said they don’t want children at all. Here are a few stars who don’t want to hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet.
george clooney
One of his best friends has six children but George Clooney has said on numerous occasions that he doesn’t want to have kids. “I’ve always known fatherhood wasn’t for me,” the actor once told Australia’s Daily Telegraph. (So says the man who said he’d never marry again!)
cameron diaz
“We have a baby girl.” That’s what Cameron Diaz told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” earlier this year when talking about Drew Barrymore’s second daughter, Frankie. But don’t expect the “Sex Tape” star to have babies anytime soon. She recently told “Esquire” magazine: “I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother.”
oprah winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is one celebrity who has no desire to be a mother who actually was – briefly – a mom. When she was 14 she gave birth to a little boy who died shortly afterwards. But the media mogul once told her “O Magazine” readers that she had “no regrets” about missing out on motherhood and told Extra TV that she “never even thought” she “would have children.”
Renée Zellweger
She played the ultimate singleton in the Bridget Jones movies and, whether or not marriage is in Renée Zellweger’s future, parenthood is not. She once said: “Motherhood has never been an ambition. I don’t think like that.”
Chelsea Handler
While her BFF Jennifer Aniston is fed up answering questions about whether or not she’ll have children, Chelsea Handler has openly said she just doesn’t want them. The funny woman recently told Amanda de Cadenet on an episode of “The Conversation”: “I definitely don’t want to have kids. I don’t think I’d be a great mother.”
ellen degeneres portia de rossi
First comes love, then comes marriage, but Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi definitely don’t want a baby in a baby carriage. In her 2011 book, “Seriously…I’m Kidding,” DeGeneres wrote: “We ultimately decided that we don’t want children of our own. There is far too much glass in our house.”
Helen Mirren
“I never felt the need for a child and never felt the loss of it.” That’s what Dame Helen Mirren told AARP this summer. She added: “I’d always put my work before anything.”
Jane Fallon ricky gervais
In a 2009 interview with Britain’s “Red” magazine Ricky Gervais said that he and his girlfriend Jane Fallon never wanted to be parents. They made that decision back when they started dating each other in their early 20s. He said: “We never wanted to be parents, with all that entails: the loss of freedom, total dependency.”
Jon Hamm
He played a dad on the TV show “Mad Men” but in real life Jon Hamm doesn’t think he’s up to the task of raising a kid. He told Us Weekly in 2012: “I’d be a terrible father. I see my friends who have children and I’m like, ‘Dude, how are you even upright, much less here at work at 6 a.m.?’”
Margaret Cho
Margaret Cho mused about her kid-free status in a 2012 blog post. She wrote: “My fear of having children is that frankly, I just don’t want to love anyone that much.”
Zooey Deschanel
She’s an auntie to her sister Emily’s son, but Zooey Deschanel has no desire to be a mom herself. The “New Girl” star told “Marie Claire” in 2012: “That’s never been my focus…I like kids, and I like being around kids, but it was never an ambition, something, like, I need…”
Rachael Ray
This is what Rachael Ray had to say about her childfree status back in 2009: “I have an enormous amount of hours that have to be dedicated to work. For me personally, I would need more time to feel like I’d be a good mom to my own child. I feel like a borderline good mom to my dog.”
Kim Cattrell
Can you imagine Samantha from Sex and the City being a mom? Well, Kim Cattrell, the actress who plays her – while she once longed for motherhood – says she is just fine not being a mom. She once said: “I enjoy kids, but not for too long. First, I think they are funny and cute and then I usually get a headache.”
Janeane Garofalo.
“People think that you are a nasty selfish person if you don’t want to have children,” so observed comedienne Janeane Garofalo. She once said about having kids: “I thought in the past that I wanted to have children, but now I realize that I don’t.”
Eva Mendes and Simon Cowell are honorary members on this list and proof-positive that just because someone says they don't want to have kids doesn’t mean they won’t change their minds. Both have said in the past that they don’t want children and Mendes is now pregnant with Ryan Gosling’s baby, and Cowell is the proud papa of his little son Eric. Never say never.
