Photos taken back in March show a frail and sick Reynolds outside of a hotel in New York. He is seen grabbing onto a cane while making his way into a car.
A family insider and the Martin County Coroner's office confirmed the news to Radar that Reynolds had died Thursday afternoon.
According to his manager, Reynolds passed away in Florida after suffering a heart attack at the hospital.
The actor had been dealing with heart disease and arthritis for years and he was forced into a wheel chair during the final days of his life.
Reynolds was best known for his roles in The Longest Yard, Smokey and the Bandit, Striptease and Boogie Nights.
In his final interview to The Sun back in August, Reynolds admitted: 'I still haven’t done the best work I can do and I’d like to do something people really wouldn’t expect.' Rest in peace.
