Jenner started the interview with the biggest bombshell of all: “For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” he told Sawyer.
“My brain is much more female than it is male,” he said. “That’s what my soul is.”
Looking at a photo of his Olympic glory, Jenner said, that man was “a confused person at that time, running away from my life.
“I don’t want to disappoint” fans who grew up thinking of him as an athletic hero, he said.
Jenner admitted he was “scared to death” for years, but said his female identity was just as strong back then: “That is me, that is her,” he said.
As a child, Jenner revealed, “I would put a scarf over my head because my hair was short. You have no idea. You don’t know what’s up, ok?”
He confessed he was a “very lonely little boy.”
“I’m still a lonely big boy,” he said. “I don’t socialize a lot.”
“I never was attracted to guys,” Jenner insisted. “I always felt heterosexual.”
Now, however, he told Sawyer he would consider himself “asexual.”
Jenner admitted that both of his first two wives, Christie Crownover and Linda Thompson knew of his proclivity to dress as a woman.
“I wasn’t as fair as I should have been” to those women, he said.
Jenner revealed he has been on estrogen since the ‘80s.
He’s undergone electrolysis for his beard and the hair on his chest.
His sister Pam told Sawyer he admitted, “I used to dress up in your clothes when no one was around!”
He also said he’s been secretly going out in public dressing as a woman for years as well.
When Jenner told his mom Esther, he claimed he said, “‘Omigosh is it my fault?’ I said, ‘Mom you didn’t cause this. It’s just the way I was born.’”
Jenner said he is “devastated” about the February car crash that left one woman dead and temporarily derailed his sex change progress.
Jenner said he has told his kids, “As much of your upbringing was her as the he side.”
Jenner told Sawyer he preferred to be referred to by male pronouns for this interview.
Jenner said he and Kris “never went to therapy” to deal with tensions over his identity, but “tried to deal with it on our own.”
He said his hormone treatments left him with 36B breasts for years.
After having his Adam’s apple shaved down, public backlash made him briefly suicidal, he said. "Go in the gun got a gun boom pain’s over it’s done,” he described. “Go to a better place. And I thought, ‘I can’t do something like that.’ I mean, I wanna know how this story ends.”
Daughters Kendall and Kylie found out about his habit of dressing in women’s clothes, he said, when their computer’s security software caught him checking himself out in a dress in their bedroom! “It was the only full-length mirror in the house!” he said.
Of everyone, Jenner said, Khloe has taken it the hardest. “She’s had the toughest time with it cuz she’s had a lot … in her life,” he said. "She lost her father at a young age … Estranged husband Lamar had his issues.”
Kourtney is most concerned with her kids’ reactions, he said.
“Kimberly has been by far the most accepting and the easiest to talk to about it,” he revealed.
He even said she’s planning on helping him develop his personal style as a woman.
Overall, Jenner said he was motivated to speak out by the thought of the lives he might save: "What I’m doing is going to do some good,” he said. “We’re going to change the world … with what we’re doing. If the whole Kardashian show gave me that foothold into that world to be able to go out there and do something good, I’m all for it."
