Brock Turner Released From Jail After Only Serving Half Of 6-Month Sentence

After only serving three months of his six-month sentence, former Stanford University student convicted of sexual assault, Brock Turner, was released from jail.
The shamed swimmer was let out shortly after 6 a.m., where a bevy of cameras and reporters were waiting to greet him. The 21-year-old wore a white button-up shirt, keeping his mouth shut as he made his to a car.

Later, Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith told reporters: "He should be in prison right now, but he's not in our custody. We need to change the laws in California. . .if you rape someone who is unconscious and intoxicated, you go to prison."

Smith added that she was "outraged" by the athlete's original sentence.

Those familiar with the case know that back in March, Turner was found guilty of three felonies for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster outside an on-campus fraternity party last January.

After receiving a measly six-month sentence, people were outraged that Judge Aaron Persky claimed a lengthy sentence would have a "severe impact" on him.

Though Turner has admitted to having sexual contact with the victim, the disgraced student claims it was consensual.

Now, he is a registered sex offender, and is required to attend drug and alcohol counseling, as well as receive random testing.
