RadarOnline.com has learned coldhearted Brad Pitt turned his back on his frail grandmother as she lay on her deathbed — despite desperate pleas from grieving relatives to visit her one final time! Pitt's frantic family reached out to the Hollywood hunk when 95-year-old Betty Russell was rushed from her nursing home to the hospital after developing the horrifying flesh-eating infection MRSA on Sept. 12, sources revealed.
Even after being told she was dying a horrible death — and being given the opportunity to fly from L.A. to Shawnee, Okla., to say goodbye — callous Brad refused to show!
"The family begged him to come home so she could see him one last time," an insider said. "But he said he wasn't coming and probably wouldn't be at the funeral either!"
Betty's heartbreaking obituary read she "went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 14, 2017, with her family by her side."
But not all of them. Shockingly, Pitt— whose dad, William Pitt, is Betty's son — was nowhere to be seen! The Shawnee-born actor's last known visit to his elderly grandmother was in 2008, when he made a token appearance with his now-estranged wife Angelina Jolie.
Meanwhile, the nursing facility where ailing Betty lived for nearly a decade — and spent her final agonizing days — had been previously given a one-star rating for quality! Inspectors cited multiple environmental deficiencies, which were deemed an "immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety."
According to an official government website, Medicare authorities rated the residence as "much below average," and a December 2011 report also highlighted the need to "make sure the nursing home area is free of dangers that cause accidents."
The U.S. government's Medicare website gave the 100-bed facility only one star out of a possible five after its last inspection in 2015.
A damning 23-page Medicare report in April of that year detailed a number of incidents in which facility residents were not properly cared for and basic practices and protocols were ignored.
Despite the Allied star's indifference to Betty's tragic end, her obituary listed "grandchildren Brad and Angie Pitt" among the surviving relatives — offering the biggest indication yet that the couple, who split in September 2016, might reconcile!
"Brad's family is clearly holding out for them getting back together," dished the insider. "As far as they're concerned, it's not over until the divorce is finalized."
