The MTV Video Music Awards have a reputation for being wild, crazy and totally unexpected. And that's just what happens ON stage! Find out who was making a splash before the cameras started rolling, in our roundup of the best, worst and wackiest, from the red carpet.

Best: Britney Spears cleaned up nicely! Of course, everything will ride on her performance tonight.

Worst: Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi missed the mark in her glittery gown, looking a little more like a high school prom-goer instead of a VMAs glam queen.

Best: Beyonce and daughter Blue Ivy stole the show in stunning mother-daughter gowns that were clearly fairytale inspired.

Wackiest: What?! Teen Mom OG star Farrah Abraham got cheeky in a strange Wonder Woman outfit.

Best: Kim and Kanye were well coordinated for their arrival, with Kardashian rocking a sheer mini dress that displayed her kickin' curves.

Best: Another best dressed! Chantelle Winnie was stunning in a leggy floor-length gown.

Worst: True to form, Sports Illustrated model Ashley Graham managed to flaunt her undergarments in a see-through gown, but it wasn't her best look.

Wackiest: Social media star Baddie Winkle was beyond words in a nearly nude look.

Best: Class act! "Anaconda" rapper Nicki Minaj displayed her hourglass figure perfectly in a strappy navy blue gown. Good thing there's no Taylor Swift feud this year!

Worst: Working out or attending an award show? Fat Joe looked like he was wearing a tracksuit from the 90's.

Wackiest: Scout Durwood tried for a classic Hollywood glam look, donning black gloves and a corseted dress, but it turned out to be a tad too loud.

Best: Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian, Laurie Hernandez and Simone Biles couldn't stop smiling after their success at the Rio games.

Worst: Actress and singer Hailee Seinfeld went a little overboard with the patterns this year.

Wackiest: Taylor Marie Hill was the worst combination of glitter and skin.

Best: Heidi Klum is ageless and forever stylish.

Worst: Jenni "JWoww" Farley looks like a goth princess and not so much like herself. No thanks!

Wackiest: Nick Cannon seemed to be confused about what kind of look he was going for. At least he managed to be color coordinated!
