From Leave It to Beaver to Happy Days, and from Married... with Children to This Is Us, two things have always gone well together, and that's television and moms. As reality television infiltrated the airwaves in the early 2000s, viewers had a chance to peer into the households of real-life mothers and how each of them dealt with having a full and abundant household, while also either being or becoming famous.

10. Maci Bookout: 16 and Pregnant/Teen Mom

Maci Bookout

It’s impossible to make a list of Reality TV Moms without including at least one Teen Mom from the MTV show of the same name. Maybe Farrah Abraham, Jenelle Evans and Leah Messer were more famous (or infamous) teenage mothers, but we have to give special props to Maci Bookout (McKinney)The Tennessee-born Bookout first appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009 as she was giving birth to her first son, Bentley. She eventually shifted over to Teen Moms, and while she had to face some of the same trials and tribulations as other cast-members — including an immature and irresponsible baby daddy, she has always tried to keep Bentley happy. Bookout continued to work and run a business while giving a good home to her three children, including Jayde and Maverick. Bookout married Maverick’s father, Taylor McKinney, on October 8, 2016.

There is a saying that quality is better than quantity, but don’t tell that to Michelle Duggar, who with hubby, Jim Bob, had 19 kids between 1988 and 2009 — that’s one kid every 14 months. There are 10 boys and nine girls — all their names begin with the letter "J" — who have been introduced over the course of 10 seasons of the show, which began in 2008. The Duggars will likely have a few hundred grandkids someday.

8. Teresa Giudice: Real Housewives

Teresa Giudice, star of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey, has four daughters, Gia, Gabriella, Milania and Audriana with her former husband of 20 years, Guiseppe “Joe” Giudice. Gia is the oldest at 19, and Audriana is the youngest at 11, but the fact that Ms. Giudice can handle the parenting of four girls in that age range is proof she deserves to be included on any list of the most known reality moms.

7. June Shannon: Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

Maybe we will never know whether “Mama June” Shannon was named after June Cleaver from Leave It to Beaver, but when she and daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, appeared on TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras in 2011, new mother and daughter stars were born. That led to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in 2012 where we got to meet June’s other three children and the rest of the extended Shannon family. Maybe the title of the We TV spin-off, Mama June: From Hot to Not, wasn’t nearly as flattering, but there’s no denying that "Mama June" has done her best as a mother while dealing with ever-worsening troubles. Hey, no mom is perfect.

6. Dina Lohan: Living Lohan

Maybe only two of Dina Lohan’s four children went on to become entertainers, but her first child, Lindsay Lohan (center), would probably have been enough of a handful for any mother, as she was a child star at the age of 12 in 1998. Maybe Lindsay’s mother had aspirations other than being the very definition of a “momager.” When she got her own E! show in 2008, Living Lohan, she could at least show how well she did with Lindsay’s younger sister, Ali (on right), who was 25 at the time and just beginning her own career as an actor and singer.

5. Kate Gosselin: (Jon &) Kate Plus 8

No list of the Best Reality Moms would be complete without Kate Gosselin, the Pennsylvania nurse who followed the path of many reality TV stars by just being a regular person ... with a lot of kids. In Gosselin’s case, she gave birth to premature twin girls in 2000 with hubby, Jon, and then four years later, she gave birth to sextuplets! Sure, maybe that isn’t as impressive as famed “Octomom,” Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to eight babies at once, but Gosselin went on to convert her ability to raise eight kids into full-on reality tv celebrity, first in Jon & Kate Plus 8 from 2007 and then in 2010’s Kate Plus 8. Like so many other mothers on our list, Gosselin ended up a single mother of a large brood of kids for six seasons of the second series. In 2019, Gosselin could finally focus on herself as her oldest girls and their teen siblings could watch themselves, leading to the 2019 TLC series, Kate Plus Date.

Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling found a way to share her entire life with the world when she and husband, Dean McDermott, made their reality TV debut with Tori & Dean: Inn Love in 2007. That turned into Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood by its third season. When they became reality TV stars, Spelling and McDermott only had their son, Beau, and Jack from his previous marriage. Over the next 10 years the couple had four more children: Stella, Hattie, Liam and Finn, while starring in a number of shows. At the same time, Spelling became a best-selling author with 2009’s Mommywood, which was all about her experiences being the mother of five.

3. Sharon Osbourne: The Osbournes

Life hasn’t been easy for the wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, but the matriarch of MTV’s The Osbournes has proven herself to be the pillar for her kids, Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne. (Eldest daughter, Aimee, chose to stay out of the limelight and wasn't featured on the show.) Sharon Osbourne’s kids have gone through some serious growing pains that were shared with the world through the popular show that ran for four seasons, beginning in 2002. At times, Sharon almost had to be a mother to her own husband as Ozzy dealt with various drug and alcohol issues, so it made sense that she could handle anything her kids might throw her way. After the end of The Osbournes she continued to be a queen of reality TV with hosting duties on other shows as well as her regular stint on The Talk , which started in 2010.

2. Kim Kardashian West: Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Following in momager Kris Jenner’s footsteps, Kim Kardashian West was the second eldest of six children, so it would make sense that she and husband Kanye West wanted a big family. Maybe it’s worrisome that Kardashian first became known for a sex tape in 2002 or as a guest on Paris Hilton’s The Simple Life, but ever since having North West in 2013, Kim has shifted her focus to motherhood, all while running her own multi-million businesses and being an in-demand model. Sons Saint and Psalm followed, along with second daughter, Chicago. Being a good mother seems very much on Kim's mind at all times.

1. Kris Jenner: Keeping Up with the Kardashians

If you’re gonna include Kim on the list of the most recognized reality TV moms, then you have to include her “Momager,” Kris Jenner. After all, Jenner had the unmitigated fortune of being married twice and creating an amazing brood of six kids, all of whom have become celebrities and stars in their own right. With lawyer Robert Kardashian, Jenner had KourtneyKim, Khloé and Rob Kardashian, and then two more girls with Olympic gold-medalist Bruce Jenner, Kylie and Kendall.  When KUPWK debuted in 2007, the kids’ ages ranged from Kylie at 10 to Kourtney at 28. Although some of them ended up getting married — a few more than once — Jenner was still pivotal in holding this big family together and not just for the sake of their hit E! show.
