Jolie, 42, dressed all in black as she visited the Directors Guild of America Theatre to meet her fans.
The star has been telling interviewers that she is busy and healthy looking after her six kids but she needs to get more sleep.
A source revealed: "Angie is lucky to get four or five hours a night if she's lucky, and it's been this way for many months."
The source added: ". Between her punishing work schedule, looking after the kids and worrying about her divorce problems it's a miracle she gets any shut-eye at all."
The Maleficent actress has lost her appetite too in recent times as she juggles work and family. "Her appetite is as low as it's been in years but what's worse is how exhausted she is the whole time. It's like she's on autopilot, running on fumes at these appearances," added the source.
Jolie will be hoping that the film is a success and she can get a well-earned break. "All she wants – and desperately needs – is a vacation, which she says is absolutely impossible for a long time yet," adds the source.
The new movie was dogged was controversy over allegations that some impoverished children were mistreated during casting. Jolie denied the allegations.
