Facing Fears! Amanda Knox Returns To Italy For First Time Since Murder Acquittal

Amanda Knox vowed to never return to Italy after she was wrongfully convicted of murder. Now, the podcast host is facing her fears and returning to the country for the first time since her release from prison.
On Thursday, June 13, Knox arrived at Linate Airport in Italy to speak on behalf of others who have been wrongfully imprisoned.

Knox, 31, wore a black shirt with gray pants. She topped off the look with an off-white blazer.
Staying Strong
"3 days till I return to Italy for the first time since leaving prison," she captioned a recent Instagram photo. "Feeling frayed, so I made my own inspirational workplace poster. 'Hang in there!'"
Support System
Knox's fiancé Chris Robinson is with her on the trip, as she captioned a photo of the couple, "Here we go… Wish us, "Buon Viaggio!"

Helping Others
Knox is in Italy to speak on a panel for "Trial by Media" at the Criminal Justice Festival in Modena for the Italy Innocence Project.
Wrongfully Convicted
Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison in 2009 for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. The ruling was overturned in 2011.
Bad Experience
Two years later, Knox was retried and her acquittal was overturned. She then vowed to never return to Italy. Fortunately in 2015, the Italian High Court reversed the decision.
Justice
In January 2018, the European Human Rights Court ordered Italy to pay Knox $20,000 in damages because of her mistreatment during the trial.
