Trebek visited the hospital on Friday in Los Angeles after revealing to fans that he was fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which is often fatal. He wore a jean shirt over a tee shirt and his expression appeared agonized.
The longtime game show host's wife Jean dropped him off at the treatment center and then returned to pick him up a few hours later, according to RadarOnline.com's insider.
"Alex was a little slow, and he took a while to get into the medical center. He appeared tired, but also determined," the source told RadarOnline.com.
His loving wife Jean helped Trebek to get to his grueling medical appointment. In January 2019, he told PEOPLE that he wished he'd met his wife earlier. Trebek, who married Jean in 1990, mused " if I’d just met Jean in my 20s we could have had a longer life together." But he also joked that Jean, 55, would have not been born then!
Trebek wore baggy clothes and his eyes bugged out as he sported a sad and unsmiling expression. His mouth turned downwards during his walk into the hospital.
Beloved Jeopardy! host Trebek shocked fans on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 when he revealed that he has pancreatic cancer. “Normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” Trebek said in a taped message.“And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
RadarOnline.com exclusively learned that Trebek visited a Beverly Hills hospital and specialist on Monday, March 4, just two days before he made his devastating health announcement. That's likely when he received the diagnosis. A source told RadarOnline.com Trebek at that time that Trebek "looked worried. He was pacing around while his wife Jean was standing to the side. He looked tired."
The erudite Emmy winner has had a number of health scares over the years. In June 2012, he had a mild heart attack while Jeopardy! was on hiatus. Three years later, Trebek famously hosted the show sitting down, while recovering from a full knee replacement.
In 2017, he was forced to undergo emergency surgery for blood clots on the brain, caused by complications from hitting his head in a fall in October 2017. But now, Trebek is facing his biggest health scare yet and his many fans are praying for him.
