"We filmed for Happily Ever After and we have notified them that we quit the show," Ashley told RadarOnline.com. "The final straw was when our story started to become inconsistent because of what we were being asked to hide and not tell followers."
On the show, Ashley, 32, discovered Jay, 20, was talking to women on hookup app Tinder only one day after their Las Vegas wedding. Although they were on the outs at the reunion and appeared broken up on social media, she claimed they never ended their marriage.
"I stayed by his side after the Tinder scandal," she said. "They wanted us to keep everything private and say we weren't together, but when people were seeing us out they thought we were lying. We never confirmed or denied our relationship status."
Ashley claimed the network advising them to keep their relationship under wraps "ruined" their credibility.
"We want our old life back," she said. "We're over being celebrities. We want to go back to our lives and focus on our relationship."
Ashley also revealed why she chose to stand by her husband after the scandal. "I'm a strong woman," she said. "It's hard to get over something, but I took my vows seriously."
As RadarOnline.com reported, Ashley and Jay were spotted in New York City on Thursday, February 7 for fashion week.
The photos came as a shock to fans. In December 2018, Jay claimed Ashley was unfaithful during their relationship.
Ashley then filed for divorce from Smith in January after 8 months of marriage.
Two days later, she was hospitalized for kidney failure. Jay was by her side at the hospital.
Less than two weeks after the divorce filing, Us Weekly confirmed Ashley withdrew the petition.
On Sunday, February 10, Ashley revealed her and Jay never split on Instagram story.
"I'm breaking the NDA and surprise: Jay and I have never separated since the day we were married," she wrote. "Breaking the NDA means I won't be paid a dime for future shows. We were made to act as if our relationship was no longer active."
Fortunately for fans, the "break" from the spotlight is temporary.
"We will continue to work on our brand," she said. "We have a pajama and underwear line coming. We want to focus on our personal lives."
Ashley, who suffers from Lupus, said she is also focusing on her health during the break, as she's gearing up for surgery tomorrow.
