William Shatner, 95, may temper his galaxy-sized ego and finally call a truce with longtime Star Trek rival George Takei, 89, in order to have another chance to grab the sci-fi spotlight, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

Shatner – who in 2021 became the oldest person to reach space during a Blue Origin suborbital flight at age 90 – recently revealed he'd be willing to reprise his franchise character Capt. James T. Kirk, explaining: "I still have the aggression and the instinct for battle."

But sources predict another Star Trek project featuring the last surviving main castmates wouldn't get off the ground without the squabbling seniors making peace.

"It would be so wonderful for both of their legacies, and for the fans, if they could come together and make this happen," an insider said.

"By all accounts, it's really Bill standing in the way of this happening because he's the one who has refused to make peace over and over. But now that he's opening up to the idea of playing Captain Kirk again, there's this new wave of hope that maybe he'll climb off his high horse and finally bury the hatchet."

The clashing personalities have notoriously trash-talked each other since their TV days together in the 1960s. But sources say pals are now urging the men to swallow their pride and end their feud before it is too late for one last hurrah.

"People keep telling Bill there's just no point carrying this grudge around anymore," the insider confided. "If he really wants to breathe new life into Star Trek, George has to be part of it because you simply can't do a proper reunion without him.

"They're the last two standing, and everyone thinks it would be such a crying shame if Bill's stubbornness stopped one last magical moment from happening."
