'Today' is allegedly facing a 'ratings crisis' after rival 'Good Morning America' scores a major win.

Panic is spreading at Today after ABC's Good Morning America recently reclaimed the top spot in the morning ratings, sources said.
Insiders told RadarOnline.com NBC executives fear viewers have drifted away as Today has become noticeably heavier in tone.

"The feeling is we've lost the fun," one insider told RadarOnline.com. "People want to be informed before work, but they also want to smile. Lately, the balance hasn't been there, especially after the awful Savannah [Guthrie] nightmare with her [missing] mother."
Now, sources said producers are being asked to do more with fewer resources, travel has been reduced and field shoots are receiving greater scrutiny.
"The message is simple," an insider told RadarOnline.com. "Win viewers back – or expect even more changes."

'Today' insiders reportedly feel the show has 'lost the fun' amid Savannah Guthrie's family ordeal.

As previously reported by RadarOnline.com, Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, was abducted from her Tucson-area home on February 1.
The FBI investigation is ongoing, and despite receiving multiple ransom notes, she remains missing.
