Scientology Church Leader David Miscavige's Wife Shelly's Whereabouts Investigated On New Podcast By Tony Ortega, 14 Years After She Vanished
Scientology church leader David Miscavige's wife Shelly Miscavige disappeared more than a decade ago, and now, a new podcast is focusing on her possible whereabouts.
Tony Ortega -- known for his famous Scientology website, The Underground Bunker -- hosts the brand-new 12-part limited series focusing on the controversial church, including the mystery surrounding Shelly's vanishing.
The famed investigator will introduce groundbreaking secrets of the religion in the podcast titled, Shelly Miscavige: Power, Corruption, Crime, and Abuse.
He will also discuss the puzzling disappearance and potential whereabouts of Scientology's high priestess.
Shelly Miscavige -- who married David in 1982 -- has not been seen publically since 2007, sparking worry amongst ex-Scientologists like Leah Remini.
In 2013, the King of Queens actress filed a missing person's report on Shelly's behalf.
DAILY. BREAKING. CELEBRITY NEWS. ALL FREE.
After doing a security check, Detective Gus Villanueva said, “The LAPD has classified the report as unfounded, indicating that Shelly is not missing." He did not provide an explanation or other information.
Remini later called "bulls--t" on the LAPD's investigation, telling the Daily Beast, “What matters to me is that I have not seen proof that this woman is alive, or doing well, so I can give a shit what the LAPD said as their bullshit statement that they put out, because I haven’t seen her face. I’m calling bullshit on it."
She was backed up by retired LAPD Detective Kevin Becker, who said, “I and many other detectives believe that the ‘investigation’ was VERY poorly handled and LAPD fell way short on this one.”
While Scientology has always maintained “Mrs. Miscavige has never been missing and is living her life to her choosing," non-Scientologists don't necessarily believe what the church is selling.
Ortega will take a deep dive into David's wife's whereabouts 14 years after her disappearance in his unpredicted true-crime thriller.
Shelly Miscavige: Power, Corruption, Crime, and Abuse is the second investigative podcast in PodcastOne's multi-year partnership with Empire Media Group.
The partnership will release 14 explosive podcasts, including Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood and Epstein: Devil in the Darkness, hosted by Emmy-winning investigative journalist Dylan Howard.
