Scientologist Danny Masterson Alleges Leah Remini Threatened LAPD Involved With Rape Investigation

The ongoing battle between Scientologist Danny Masterson and ex-Scientologist Leah Remini continues to play out in the legal system.
In newly filed court documents, the 45-year-old That '70s Show actor – who has been charged with the rape of three women – is bringing to light new claims that the 50-year-old King of Queens actress has been actively meddling in his case.
According to Masterson, Remini has been pushing the Los Angeles Police Department to get him prosecuted, alleging she threatened to put the department "on blast" if investigators did not comply.
Per the filing, Masterson claims Remini said, "I told [Det.] Reyes from the beginning, 'I'm telling you, if you screw this up I'm putting you and the whole LAPD on blast. Not because I want to, but because they deserve to be heard.' And you can't keep being in business with the Church of Scientology because you have no balls."
Not only that, but Masterson also alleges Remini has made phone calls to the lead investigator on the case. He claims the LAPD encouraged her to participate in its investigation and that one of the detectives went so far as to tell her she's "vital" to the process.
Per Masterson, Remini also allegedly wanted to attend the District Attorney's interviews of the three Jane Does who accused him of rape. He claims the Deputy DA was on board until things between the actress and prosecutors went south.
Remini, an outspoken critic of the Church of Scientology, interviewed two of Masterson's alleged victims on her show.
Masterson further alleged that Remini hired an LAPD detective to serve as her bodyguard and place calls to investigators working on the case.
Masterson says the detective – named Becker in the filing – "had a history of trying to influence LAPD investigations" at Remini's command. He claimed that when Becker contacted the Austin Police Department in 2016 about the police report of the third unnamed woman he allegedly raped, the Austin PD detective was so stunned by the move that she wrote in her report, "'Becker has no professional investigative interest in this report, as he does not investigate sexual assault cases. It is later revealed he is Leah Remini's close friend.'"

As RadarOnline.com reported, Masterson's legal team previously filed a motion asking that the trial date be postponed to allow their client more time to prepare and investigate Remini's alleged collusion with the LAPD.
Remini, an outspoken critic of the Church of Scientology, interviewed two of Masterson's alleged victims on her show.
The investigation into the claims, which began in 2017, dragged on for over a year. Then in June of 2020, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged Masterson with three counts of rape by force or fear.
Officials say Masterson raped a 23-year-old woman in 2001, a 28-year-old woman in 2003 and a 23-year-old woman in 2003. The actor entered a plea of not guilty. But if convicted, he could be sentenced to 45 years in prison.
For his part, Masterson believes Remini has had it out for him specifically since he publicly accused her of "religious bigotry" following the debut of her tell-all series in 2016.
Masterson previously stated he believes Remini is the one who urged his three alleged rape victims to go to the police in the first place. He said Jane Doe 1 made "baseless accusations" and that the other two women were involved in romantic and consensual relationships with him. Masterson claims the latter two didn't come forward until after Remini started talking to them.
Further, he accused Remini of "guiding" the alleged victims in how to make their statements to the LAPD. Masterson also believes the investigators being "starstruck" by Remini is what led to him being charged.
Masterson's attorney, Tom Mesereau, previously stated, "We’re confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify. Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year-old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed."
