Jen Shah's beloved Aunt Nani has died. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star made the heartbreaking announcement on her social media Monday.
Shah went to bat for her aunt in season one of the Bravo show after her co-star Mary Cosby said Jen "smelled like hospital" after a recent visit to see Nani.
RHOSLC fans were introduced to Nani when she was featured on the season two premiere, which aired on Sunday.
Posting several pictures with Nani from her childhood, Shah shared the sad news.
"It’s taken me a while to be able to post this. I needed time to process the shock, tremendous heartache, and endless tears of losing Auntie Nani almost two months ago," she captioned the post.
Revealing how special Nani was to her, Shah continued, "She impacted so many lives and loved so many. She was a second mother to me and was an example of always living your best life, always grateful and giving back even when faced with adversity. Her bravery is unmatched and I only hope to carry on the example she was to so many."
Ending her emotional message, the reality star said her goodbye. "I miss you Auntie Nani...I love you so much. Now you can dance with the angels in heaven," she wrote.
Cosby's "smell like hospital" comment caused a huge rift between her and Shah during the first season of the breakout franchise.
After Cosby made the accusations, Shah revealed that she was at the hospital to visit her aunt had to get her legs amputated.
During Sunday's episode, viewers were not just introduced to Nani, but also her prosthetic legs.
Shah's aunt isn't the only family member she's mourning. Jen's father passed away, and she's still dealing with the emotions surrounding her husband, Sharrieff Shah, not coming to the funeral.
In the season premiere, Shah said, "My relationship problems with Sharrieff in our marriage def had an effect on my entire family."
"My relationship problems with Sharrieff in our marriage def had an effect on my entire family," she added. "I think it really impacted my mom and my siblings because we're the backbone of the family. My grandfather has passed. My dad's passed away. Sharrieff has taken over that role. So it's kind of like, wait a minute, if you guys are not right, the rest of the family's not right."
Shah is also facing possible prison time after getting arrested in March. She was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing in connection with a massive telemarking scheme.
Season two will show the moment she was taken into custody by the FBI and the aftermath. Shah's trial is set to begin in October.
