Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' 10-month marriage is already showing glaring signs of mutual frustration, with the brunette beauty now dropping not-so-subtle hints she "doesn’t need" her multi-billionaire hubby, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
The former TV news anchor, 56, openly demanded that Bezos, 62, leave her alone to pose solo on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars bash in March, while he failed to crack a smile for nearly the entire time. An insider explained why the once-PDA happy lovebirds now seem so awkward together, even when cameras aren't pointed their way.
Lauren Sánchez Now 'Believes Her Own Hype' After Awkward Red Carpet Display

Sánchez openly shooed away Bezos so she could pose solo at the 'Vanity Fair' Oscar party.
"I had people at the Vanity Fair party at the Oscars, and they were really awkward to one another, not only inside the party, but on the red carpet," Hollywood insider Rob Shuter revealed on Mauareen Callahan's The Nerve podcast about how the tensions were still there when the cameras weren't on Sánchez and Bezos.
"Normally, couples in crisis actually put on a really good show on the carpet. They overcompensate," the longtime Tinseltown vet explained, hinting at duos such as Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's loved-up red carpet PDA displays while their marriage was in shambles behind the scenes.
"These two were really awkward on the carpet. And there's one moment where she really didn't want him in the photographs. She now believes her own hype," Shuter spilled about how Sánchez openly told her husband to get out of the frame and move along so she could give sultry poses on her own for the wall of photographers at the party.
Lauren Sánchez 'Doesn't Really Need' Jeff Bezos Now That They're Married

Sánchez loves the chance to pose solo on the red carpet.
"She has got a ring on that finger. So, she doesn't really need him anymore in her mind to be fabulous," Shuter observed about Sánchez's desire to have solo moments on the red carpet where she wasn't part of a power couple.
He added, "So, when they were dating, when they were engaged, she needed him to get the press. Now, I think she's trying to step out of his shadow. It's really interesting."
Lauren Sánchez 'Not Taking a Second Seat' to Jeff Bezos Anymore

Sánchez soaked up Paris Fashion Week without her husband by her side.
"Recently at Paris Fashion Week, she didn't take him," Shuter pointed out about how Bezos, who normally attends alongside Sánchez, was replaced by a powerful new ally and pal in Vogue Global Editor Anna Wintour.
"She went with Anna Wintour. Now, she was with Anna. She now wants to be a star in her own right. She's not taking a second seat to him."
According to his sources, Sánchez's desire to no longer share the spotlight with Bezos and break out on her own as a global celebrity is causing issues for the duo, who married in June 2025 after a two-year engagement.
"I hear there's already tension," he noted. "Marriages are difficult when the rules change."

Upcoming Met Gala Appearance

The couple used to look so much more in love on the red carpet, seen here in 2023.
Sánchez and Bezos have their biggest moment as a married couple yet, coming up on May 4, as the Amazon founder has financed the 2026 Met Gala.
He has attended three times as one of the world's richest men. The first time was in 2012 alongside then-wife Mackenzie Scott, and then on his own in 2019 after the pair split and he quietly started dating Sánchez.
Bezos and the former Good Day L.A. correspondent attended in 2024, but were just celebrity guests alongside the flood of A-listers.
Now that they're footing the massive bill for the annual fashion Olympics, Sánchez should get plenty of time posing up a storm on the iconic stairs to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
