Hours before Larsa's homage to Antron, Scottie Pippen announced his son's death. "I'm heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron," the basketball player wrote. "The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game."
Scottie did not reveal the cause of death but did mention Antron's struggle with asthma. "Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would've made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though—Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became," he continued.
Adding that Antron had a "kind heart and beautiful soul," Scottie says his son has "gone way too soon". Ending his loving tribute, he stated, "I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again. 🙏🏾."
Antron was his first and only child, with his first wife, Karen McCollum. They two were married from 1988 to 1990.
In 1997, Scottie married Larsa. She filed for divorce from the NBA star in October 2016. The two share four children together.
