Harrison Ford, 78, Injures Himself While Rehearsing 'Indiana Jones 5' Fight Scene, Production To Film Around Recovery
Harrison Ford has reportedly injured himself while rehearsing for a fight scene in the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 movie.
According to Deadline, the extent of the 78-year-old actor's injury was not immediately known, but sources told the publication that it involved one of his shoulders.
Director James Mangold – who is taking over directing reins from Steven Spielberg – reportedly plans to continue to shoot around the film's lead while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated.
Insiders say the current filming schedule will be adjusted as needed in the coming weeks.
Disney had previously set the fifth installment of the Lucasfilm adventure action thriller for a July 29, 2022 release date. It is not yet known whether that will change, as production began only a few weeks ago in Pinewood and other U.K. locations.

Ford stars in the film alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann.
As for Spielberg, he is still serving as producer, along with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel.
John Williams – who has worked on every score in the 37-year-old franchise, including its iconic theme song – will return as the composer.
The first film of the series, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, was released on May 8, 1984. Harrison was not necessarily a spring chicken then, either, but at 46 years old, he was definitely more physically able to portray the rough-and-tumble nature of Dr. Henry Jones Jr.(Indiana Jones), who thanks to Ford has become one of the most revered action heroes in all of cinema.
Keeping in mind that their star is now 78, showrunners have reportedly found at least one way to keep Ford safe while making life less challenging for production.
Alleged set photos, shared by a Twitter user earlier this month, seemed to show that Ford's stunt double will be wearing a mask made to look like the actor's face.
The pictures also appeared to confirm that viewers will see a younger version of Indiana Jones in the upcoming film, which makes sense given the movie is being touted as the final in its franchise.
