Erica Mena has filed for divorce from her husband Safaree after being together for less than 2 years.
According to court documents obtained by Radar, the Love & Hip Hop star filed her petition in Fayette County Superior Court on May 21.
The records list the case type as "divorce annulment." The case was filed in the same county that they got married.
In the court documents, Erica is asking the judge to award her primary custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Safire. The VH1 star has no issues with sharing joint legal custody of their kid.
Erica believes her estranged husband should be paying her child support. She also wants to be able to use their marital home exclusively aka she wants him to leave the pad ASAP.
In court documents, Erica revealed she hired powerhouse celebrity attorney Randall Kessler to represent her in the divorce. He is a pitbull in Atlanta and has handled countless high-profile cases.
The attorney represented everyone from Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, New York Jets star Braylon Edwards and Christina Millian. He's represented clients that have taken on everyone from T.I., Usher, and Ludacris. His speciality is working on complex family law disputes that involve a vast amount of property and assets.
Fans have been wondering about the state of the marriage after Erica started posting photos on social media without her wedding ring.
At the moment, Erica is expecting her second child with Safaree. She got pregnant shortly after delivering Safire. It's unclear if the cameras are currently rolling on the VH1 reality show.
The entire production had been shut down during the pandemic and no new episodes were being shot. The networks have been slowly bringing back shows but it's unclear if Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood is being filmed.
Regardless, Erica and Safaree will be talking about the split when the cameras do finally start rolling. They have been known to spill about every last one of their arguments on the reality show.
