'Basketball Wives' Star Mehgan James Sues Lyft Driver Over Alleged Assault & Battery On Los Angeles Freeway
Reality star Mehgan James says a ride-share driver assaulted her and threw her on the side on the road and now she’s going after Lyft.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, James is suing the company and an unknown driver. In docs, she says she called for a car on August 20, 2020.
A male driver showed up and told her to use hand sanitizer due to the pandemic. James said she complied with his request. James says the driver had all the windows down and she asked if he could roll up hers.
She say he refused and “began driving significantly faster than the speed limit in the carpool lane on highway 1-405, causing Plaintiff to become uncomfortable.”
James says the driver began to swerve the car in and out of lanes. The Basketball Wives star says this went on for several minutes before he “pulled over to the side of the highway and, while using profanity, demanded that Plaintiff get out of the vehicle.”
James says she refused to get out because they were in the middle of the highway. The star asked the driver to drop her off at the next exit.
She says the driver refused and “using force, grabbed her by the head of her hoodie sweatshirt and violently pulled her out of the vehicle, causing her to fall on the ground. Doe driver then drove away leaving Plaintiff stranded on the highway.”

James says she had to walk ten minutes on the side of the highway in windy conditions to arrive at her destination. The reality star filed a police report over the incident. However, she says she called Lyft and they refused to provide information about their driver.
She blames Lyft for hiring the drive and breached its "duty of a transportation company to provide safe passage to its passengers.” James said the assault “robbed” her of her “dignity and personal safety” and caused her to suffer psychological and physical injuries.
The suit is seeking unspecified damages for the alleged assault and battery.
