Ian, 55, confirmed the news that he and Erin, 39, were ending their marriage on his Instagram on October 31.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you Erin and I are splitting up,” he wrote.
“With our hectic work schedules we could not be busier, and over the last few years have grown apart.”
He continued: “She is one of the most incredible women I have ever met and the best mom to our kids.”
Erin also took to social media to announce the split. "I mean, it is kind of hard to choose an announcing your divorce picture, so i just went with my favorite one of myself ? After 9 1/2 years of marriage Ian asked for a divorce. After having asked multiple times I knew it was time to give up. Knowing that I am not the person to make him happy makes the situation feel more peaceful."
She continued: "The girls and I are doing great and finding gratitude and love in our new life together and rebuilding. Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out and I am sorry if I do not get a chance to respond right now. I appreciate your love and the sisterhood of women who surrounds me during this time."
The couple “have been fighting a lot and it is a really ugly split,” source told Radar about their relationship. They share two daughters, Mia and Penna.
The split eerily echoes Ziering’s storyline on the BH90210 reboot, where Steve Sanders and his wife break up.
On Halloween Erin posted a photo with her two daughters in costume but Ian was absent from the photo.
They showed up as a happy family at Tori Spelling’s daughter Hattie’s 8th birthday party together, with the Sharknado star wearing his wedding band in the Oct. 13 photo.
The last time either of them posted a photo together on their personal Instagram pages was on Father’s Day and it was the four of them together.
Erin was not wearing a wedding ring in her Instagram photos for the last few months.
And neither Ian nor Erin had posted photos together since June 2019.
