A number of homes exploded into flames after a plane crash on Sunday.
The Cessna aircraft smashed into a community in Yorba Linda, California, as locals gathered for Super Bowl parties.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and it is feared that there could be fatalities as the plane came down in torrential rain and burst into a fireball on impact.
The scale of the devastation was revealed in witnesses' photos and video clips which show a number of homes on fire as a large cloud of black hung over the skies.
One brave resident even used a garden hose to douse the flames from the Cessna plane while other parts of the aircraft were scattered all across the neighborhood.
Witnesses described hearing the plane's engine "straining" before it slammed into the houses and exploded like a "bomb was dropped".
The local fire department said at least two homes were on fire after the plane crashed at about 2pm local time.
One witness wrote on Twitter: "Driving on the 91 just saw a helicopter or a plane or something literally fall from the sky into Yorba Linda.Praying everyone is okay."
And one man posted: "I'm up here in Anaheim Hills and over 15 minutes ago I heard a small engine plane with its engine straining, followed by 10 seconds later two distant booms."
Emergency services are still at the scene.
