Slick Woods, who was discovered by Rihanna on Instagram, shared a touching photo of her and her mom, Vonnya-Leah Mason, after she spent 17 years in prison. Now, RadarOnline.com has learned shocking details about Mason's horrific crimes.
Explosive court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com showed Mason pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter she committed in April 2002. She was sentenced to 21 years in state prison on Feb. 14, 2003.
The model's mother was initially charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, but they were ultimately dismissed.
One year prior to her manslaughter arrest, Mason was also charged with one felony count of taking a vehicle without an owner's consent. She pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 30 days in county jail and 36 months of probation with a keep away order. A felony charge of evading an officer stemming from the same incident was dismissed.
On Monday, Feb. 18, Rihanna's hand-picked model shared a photo alongside her mom smiling together inside of a car. Fans were shocked to see just how much they looked alike.
"Cried a lot," Woods captioned the photo. "Me n mom, fresh out after 17 years of prison."
Woods gave birth to a son in 2018. She also gained notoriety for walking in one of Kanye West's Yeezy fashion shows.
Woods revealed in an interview with the Guardian in 2018 that her mother went to prison when she was six years old. She was raised by her grandmother but did not have an easy upbringing.
The model revealed she bounced around the country and lived in motels and cars.
However, while her mother was in prison, Woods reportedly spoke to her often. Woods has described her mother as her "best friend."
