Mandy Moore Accuses Ex-Husband Ryan Adams Of Psychological Abuse

Mandy Moore has accused her ex-husband, Ryan Adams, of emotional and psychological abuse as part of a shocking New York Times expose of the rocker's alleged bad behavior towards women.
The This is Us star, 34, along with six other ladies, spoke out about how Adams allegedly exploited and then stifled their ambitions.
“Music was a point of control for him,” Moore told the publication.
Adams was a decade older than singer/actress Moore when they met in 2007. They married in 2009 and a year later, he offered to help her with an album.
Moore alleges that when she parted ways with her music manager, Adams discouraged her from working with others and he took control of her music career.
Adams promised to record songs they wrote together but he never did, Moore has claimed.
When he booked them time at his studio, he replaced her with other singers.
“He would always tell me, ‘You’re not a real musician, because you don’t play an instrument,’” Moore told the Times.
The lawyer said Adams had been happy to help Moore's career and had not prevented her from working with others.
But Moore said, "His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time — my entire mid-to-late 20s."
Other women, including Adams’s ex-fiancée Meghan Butterworth, also described him as a controlling and emotionally abusive partner.

Butterworth has said Adams harassed her with hundreds of text messages, phone calls and emails after she broke up with him. She alleged Adams threatened to kill herself and to sue her, and The Times reviewed those messages.
Other women have alleged Adams "mentorship" took a dark turn.
Adams has denied all the charges.
Through his lawyer, he said that he did not have the power to make or break careers and categorically denied the “extremely serious and outlandish accusations” in The Times’s reporting.
Adams also released a statement on Twitter, saying: "I am not a perfect man and I have made many mistakes. To anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologize deeply and unreservedly."
“What you experience with him — the treatment, the destructive, manic sort of back and forth behavior — feels so exclusive,” Moore said. “You feel like there’s no way other people have been treated like this.”
Moore has previously cried about her unhappy marriage to the rock star.
As RadarOnline.com revealed last year, Adams went on a Twitter rant against his ex Moore.
He's bizarrely called her a "soggy piece of cardboard."
Now, Moore has said, “I want to make music. I’m not going to let Ryan stop me.”
