Vogue editor Anna Wintour has a reputation for being the queen of mean in the fashion industry. Now, RadarOnline.com has learned that her former friend Isaac Mizrahi has accused her of body shaming him.
In his new memoir, I.M., Mizrahi, 57, ripped the lid off of his 30-year long friendship with Wintour, 69. He claimed that Wintour often poked fun at him over his weight.
"She was really concerned for my happiness, always asking about the men I was dating," Mizrahi wrote. "Also making note of my weight, congratulating me when I was thin and teasing me when I wasn't."
Mizrahi is best known for his couture designs that appeared on runways and in fashion spreadsall over the world. Sarah Jessica Parker, Julia Roberts and Janet Jackson are a handful of the hundreds of A-list celebs he's dressed.
The fashion designer wrote candidly about fancy dinners at Wintour's home where he rubbed shoulders with Hillary Clinton and George Clooney. However, he also recalled the day he realized Vogue's iconic editor was no longer sitting in his corner – literally.
"Finally, about six years ago, I was backstage and asked with my usual angst whether the important editors were in place. Anna wasn't there yet; I assumed that she was detained," Mizrahi wrote. "But after about twenty minutes it was obvious she wasn't coming and we filled the seat. It was a blow."
Despite the painful memories Mizrahi endured in his professional and personal relationships with Wintour, he admitted he's still appreciative to have worked with her.
"We don't see each other anymore, but for some thirty years she was an incredible champion of my work, always there in the front row, always encouraging and helping me."
