The fashion world has lost an icon. After weeks of health ailments, beloved designer Karl Lagerfeld has died.
As RadarOnline.com has learned, the creative director of Chanel passed away this Tuesday, February 19, at the American Hospital of Paris, Neuilly-sur-Seine, after a long illness. He was admitted to the E.R. just one day prior, when his health worsened. He was 85.
This January 22, he failed to attend two of Chanel's haute couture fashion shows in Paris, though his team blamed his absence on exhaustion. It was the first time in his career that he ever missed one of his own shows.
Apart from running Coco Chanel's fashion house for over three decades, Lagerfeld was also the creative director of Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi and of his own eponymous fashion label.
The designer never married and is survived only by his adored cat, Choupette. He will be greatly missed.
R.I.P. Karl Lagerfeld.
