Hayden Panettiere portrayed Amanda Knox in the 2011 made-for-TV movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial In Italy – and she wasn't a fan of the flick. On Knox's podcast, she admitted she has "deep resentment" for the actress.
On The Truth About True Crime with Amanda Knox, she interviewed filmmaker Joe Berlinger about his upcoming Ted Bundy flick Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
Knox, 31, explained how she's been the subject of a made-for-TV movie and documentaries because of her infamous conviction for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher.
Although Knox didn't name Panettiere, the actress played her in the 2011 Lifetime flick.
"I've had an actor play me," Knox said. "The thing that has always bothered me about it is not many people have gone out of their way to actually approach me and get to know me before portraying me."
She continued, "Everyone else is making a feast off my flesh while I'm sitting back suffering the consequences."
"The only one who suffers the reputational consequences is me," she said. "I have some deep resentment for the way people have portrayed me and profited off portraying me a certain way because it's sensational. Not even done the gesture."
As readers know, Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison in 2009 for the murder of Kercher. The ruling was overturned in 2011.
Two years later, Knox was retried and her acquittal was overturned. In 2015, the Italian High Court overturned the decision.
In January 2018, the European Human Rights Court ordered Italy to pay Knox $20,000 in damages for the way she was mistreated her during the trial.
Knox's comments come as Panettiere has been experiencing trouble in her personal life.
As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, Panettiere didn't spent the holidays with her daughter Kaya, 4, with ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
According to the insider, the Nashville star's daughter has been living and going to school in the boxing star's native country Ukraine.
"It's disturbing and she will have to figure out how to manage this," the source said. "It's not an easy scenario."
Panettiere's family is also "deeply concerned" about her relationship with boyfriend Brian Hickerson, 28.
She's been spotted out partying with her man, even throwing up after a night of drinking.
