Chris Brown, the beloved pro surfer, has died.
As RadarOnline.com has learned, the athlete’s body was found washed up in a Santa Barbara beach on Sunday, January 20.
The Santa Barbara Independent was the first to report the news, stating that his official cause of death remains unclear. He was 48.
The death of the surfer — who won the Professional Surfing Association of America Championship — left fans and pals heartbroken. Fellow surfer Kelly Slater took to Instagram to share a statement following his passing.
“It’s taken me a couple days to even want to think about it. Chris Brown and I were nearly inseparable as teenagers,” he wrote alongside a carrousel of photos of Brown.
“This guy was just such an excited, happy light in my childhood,” Slater, 46, continued.
