Sister Wife Who Got Away! Kody Brown Once Courted Underage Teen

Kody Brown could’ve been husband to five wives! In the Sister Wives stars’ tell-all Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage, the family reveals an underage teen almost joined the brood! RadarOnline.com can reveal exclusive details on how the sister wife who got away.
Kody and Meri were in their early twenties when they entered into their first courtship with a teen they met at a church gathering.
“I was excited,” first wife Meri revealed in the 2012 memoir. “She and I became close friends right away. This was unusual for me and I immediately took it as a sign that Kody and I were destined to marry her. This girl and I loved hanging out together and spent lots of time on our own without Kody.”
Meri admitted to getting “jealous” of the afternoons her husband would spend with her to develop their relationship. But she insisted she dealt with those feelings “maturely.”
“I felt confident that the three of us had a wonderful future together and I was certain that while she would be a great wife to Kody, she would remain one of my best friends,” Meri wrote.
But when the woman “left,” Meri was “devastated.”
“Back then we were all so young, she was only eighteen and Kody and I were in our first year of marriage – so we may have mistaken a crush for love,” she explained. “Nevertheless, I felt personally betrayed. I had lost one of my closest friends, a woman I imagined would have been a perfect sister wife."
When wife Christine took over as narrator, she revealed the woman was underage.
"Meri and I still talked on the phone from time to time,” Christine wrote. “I resisted these phone calls because I didn't want to hear about the courtship. It had been prolonged because Kody and Meri wanted to wait for the girl they were courting to turn eighteen before making their engagement official. Even though I wanted nothing to do with it, I heard when they got engaged, and I knew when they set the date for the wedding."

But the failed engagement didn’t discourage Kody and Meri from expanding their family. Kody went on to spiritually marry Janelle then Christine. Robyn was the final wife to join the group when they married in 2010.
